The uWaterloo School of Pharmacy has since its inception been guided by the principles embodied in its Vision, Mission and Values statements.

Our Vision

The School will be a wellspring of discovery and a catalyst for change in healthcare.  Its dynamic scholars will reshape the profession and its disciplines, combining pharmaceutical expertise with disease prevention, public policy, pharmaceutical development and patient advocacy.  Its leading-edge pharmaceutical science discoveries will promote innovations that expand the pharmacy enterprise internationally.  Its professional education program will be the most innovative in North America, drawing on unique partnerships with physicians and other health professions while embracing UW’s distinctive strengths in cooperative learning.  Its graduates will be compassionate and flexible leaders, creative problems solvers, and broad thinkers dedicated to subduing disease and sustaining lifelong health. 

Our Mission

The School of Pharmacy is committed to pushing the frontiers of discovery in order to improve health and well-being.  It will pursue the ideals of learning and knowledge through academic excellence, creativity and exemplary scholarship.  It will embrace such pursuits by emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration, diversity of thought, and mutual respect.  In its quest for innovation, it will promote research that spans the spectrum from fundamental science to clinical care.  It will be a University of Waterloo leader in research and promote spin-off business ventures.  Its professional educational program will strike a balance between a sound theoretical framework and practical experience so that its professional graduates will engage and enrich their world by being compassionate innovative and flexible leaders.  Its post-graduate educational programs will champion fundamental understanding and application of concepts, collaborative discovery and leading edge research, shaping graduates who will be recognized for expertise and leadership while making important contributions to the global scientific community.  The School will become a magnet attracting investment to the area.  The School’s facility will become an attraction for city and regional citizens.
